Please join us January  15th at 11:30 am in Room A301 of the Collins Center of the Anderson School of Management  for a first look at a novel thoracic surgery technology from Dr. Robert Cameron, and a practical group discussion on value proposition.

We will also be actively recruiting for the winter preliminary round of Venture Teams, in preparation for the Venture Team Competition this spring. Please see Nate Martin after the meeting to sign up or contact him by email: NaMartin@mednet.ucla.edu.

AGENDA
  • “Video-Guided Chest Tube Insertion System” presentation from Robert Cameron, MD
  • Discussion on “Value Proposition” from Henry Friedman, PhD, who teaches the core Financial Accounting course at Anderson

Professor Friedman joined UCLA Anderson this past July and teaches Financial Accounting in the FEMBA program. Before UCLA, he taught Managerial Accounting and helped teach Technological Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Wharton.

Professor Friedman will lead a discussion about value propositions, which are essential stepping stones in understanding venture commercialization. The value proposition is, perhaps not surprisingly, the proposed way that a product or service delivers value to its customers. We’ll think about the value propositions of inventions already being discussed at the BSC, focusing on questions such as:

1) Who makes the purchasing decision?

2) Why would they purchase?

3) What is it worth to them?

4) How does that affect the commercialization strategy and business plan?

Thank you for your continued support of the Business of Science Center. With the new year, the BSC brings with it new programs and opportunities to get involved. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or are interested in having a BSC Venture Team formed around your technology.
