  • Wednesday, January 22, 2014

  • Los Angeles, CA

The BSC is co-sponsoring this event with the Career Center.

Building professional relationships is integral to success in any career path, especially for graduate students. Face-to-face “networking”, however, can often be intimidating and inauthentic.  In this highly interactive workshop you will learn how to create conversation with people you don’t know, learn networking norms and strategies, and identify effective ways to follow up to create and sustain mutually beneficial professional relationships.

Annie Maxfield, the Associate Director of Graduate Student Relations & Services will lead this 90 minute, highly interactive workshop designed specifically for graduate students.  Prior to coming to UCLA Annie was the Assistant Director for Graduate Students and Employer Relations at Duke University, where she grew employer engagement and graduate student professional development programs. She has delivered professional development workshops for PhDs at New York University’s “What Can you Be with a PhD”, Duke University, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and The University of Utah.  She is also an adjunct instructor at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication.
