AWIS’ Work-Life Seminar: A panel discussion about how to maintain a healthy balance in Academia and Industry

The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is proud to announce the launch of the first session of a two-part series – “Work-Life Seminar: A panel discussion about how to maintain a healthy balance in Academia and Industry.” The first session (Academia) will be held in CHS 23-105 on Thursday, March 5th from 5 – 6:30 PM (Panel discussion: 5 – 6 pm; Networking session: 6 – 6:30 pm). Panelists will include Lynn Gordon, Professor of Ophthalmology and Associate Dean for Academic Diversity at the David Geffen School of Medicine (UCLA);Erin Sanders, Director of the Center for Education Innovation in Life Sciences (CEILS) and Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics (MIMG); and Heather Christofk, Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular and Medical Pharmacology. The panelists will be asked to describe how they became involved in science, how they transitioned to their current role (triumphs and challenges), and most importantly, how they balance work (career and ambitions) with their lifestyles (family, leisure and health).
